…and the big list of stuff we were supposed to talk about (we only made it through half of it starting at the bottom) is here.

JTPP was completely packed as art fans from all over the world who were in town for the big international art fairs, The Armory, Scope, and Pulse and half a dozen smaller fairs, came over to Williamsburg for a special night of galleries staying open late. Some of the art fans drunkenly asked Cheen Pitney to make them a virtual Beer and Cheen came through! Cheen do you have a good pic of the beer? I was too far away from the screen and there were too many people in the way for me to see it, but you know, i thought… that was a good problem. There was a whole crowd watching and cheering on whoever was typing at the keyboard at sometimes and at other times the party continued around  while one person or another had an actual conversation with whoever was stading around in the BIW sim– which much of the time was Chugabug Goodnight, Kat2 Kit, and… Kat, who was your other companion there? Amsterdam somebody? SEE ALL THE PICS

Now for something very different

As I, your humble watcher, was exploring the many and myriad masses of art that grace our small land, I was able to make a contact out of my IM list and compel him to come down and look.  I was enjoying Khanaar Ingmann’s company and thoughtfully looking at a choice (as if there is bad art in there, I dont think so) bit of creativity, and it was then that I started hearing a rumbling car engine. This understandably piqued my interest, and I dismissed it to a soundbyte he was playing in my ear.

Oh to be so Naive again.

Ingmann, unknowingly to me, was a Second Life car dealer, and never travelled without his entire compliment of automobiles.

He had produced a Pontiac Firebird, of mid 1980’s vintage.

Needless to say, my beginners mind was not prepared for the uncanny sight of a random musclecar appearing out of nowhere. This quickly gave way to my common sense of practicality, and I took a seat. He drove us around the tower, and gave me the most enjoyable tour of the exhibit. As my mind was thinking this was impossible to top, He topped it.

He dropped a truck down, and one with a hover conversion kit ta boot. as you can see we ventured into a globe piece and hovered there. pondering the world.  One creation, inside another, inside another.  This was where I thought we would stop, again, Khanaar was the showman, and I his audience.

He takes the stage with his Monster Truck creation, and treats the stage as a stage, I watch my own personal Monster Truck ralley.  Thinking the show is over I grow bored, but his finale, was indeed larger than life.

Yes so large I blog 2 photos. He makes that fly as well.

I ask him to take me back to his place where we talk about his cars. “Here are 2 I had in real life” ,he says taking me to two rust speckled trucks. I can tell he has nothing but love and good memories of them. He later tells me about his choices of vehicles, and the lack of exotics. “I prefer common cars, the ones you see on the road everyday”

I respond, “Real cars?”.

“Yes” ,is his eloquent reply.

Thank You Khanaar!

We had some discussion on podcast 2 about these works by Gazira Babeli and their relationship to Francis Bacon. (read down in the comments for podcast 2) I think there’s some good discussion in there. I just wanted to make sure we had the picture here on the blog for everyone to see.

Geometry in Motion

Spectral portal

Sabine Stonebender’s piece is like a futuristic treasure case, with this pyramid-like centerpiece rotating around at the core. This is the type of stuff I would love to see inside of Earth like a beating heart twirling around in it’s protective case. The background in the center is a bright lava red color that possesses it’s own space and existence. The pyramids inside move in a counter-clockwise direction. Is it its own dimension? We have now entered the Twilight Zone!

Ascend to the heavens and ponder life

Dan Coyote did this great art piece.

You sit in some of his Well crafted chairs, and let them take you to the heavens as you ponder the expanse of the SL world. I cound show you the top. I will not, dare I spoil your view and surprise, instead I give you the part that matters most, The journey up. It is the trip that should be valued and pondered on, not the destination.
