“hey, stack!”

Posted by jvanb on March 15th, 2008

In the podcast we spend a great deal of time talking about the work by DanCoyote that is high in the sky over the BIW tower. We nicknamed it “the Haystack” and Don Carroll and James Adams discussed the work in aesthetic terms- listen to the podcast and see if you agree. DC, when you get back from vacation, if this piece has left BIW, post up a link in the comments section of this post to where people can see it in your own context so they will go see if for themselves. A big part of what is great about this work is its scale in relation to the avatar- you have to see it in world to get the full effect- get into SL and Go See it!- thanks very much to Salavy Oh for this excellent shot of it. And here’s another one:

Just words

Alyas Aya’s word tree is made up of words that start off with “i made a tree out of nothing…” and quickly become impossible (well for me anyway) to read. Also using words right now at Brooklyn is watching is this:

Word Angel

thanks to WendyofNeverland for sharing this picture with the Brooklyn is Watching Flickr group of Brigitte Kungler’s “Words of an Angle” in this piece moving words make up the substance of the Angel in ways that seem to relate to its body parts, for example the trunk of the angel is made up of the word “strength” while the wings are made up of “freedom”. The Stonebender

got to love that name.

“Ghost of the Depth” was only one of several interesting sculptures left for us to discover by Sabine Stonebender that made Brooklyn is Watching’s first week a big success. I’ve not had a chance to visit Sabine’s new exhibition “zero point” but I hope to soon.
