Well, the voting is still going on until the end of Saturday – however

it’s always good to be prepared, and have a plan of action!

So, if you get chosen, here are the instructions for dropping off your work:

1. Box your work into a rez box (name it “30Best” to make my life easier), along with a notecard telling me your name, title of the piece, and any other special instructions or info you may have.

2. Drop the rez box into my avatar’s profile, “wltrr rajal”, with permission to transfer and copy.

3. All works are to be submitted by Sunday night! Lateness is unattractive.

Thanks!

Asking for the works to be available by Sunday night is unrealistic; some of the artists might be away for the weekend and not even get into SL until after that. (Some of the artists might not even come into SL any more; what will we do in that case?) It IS a holiday weekend in the US after all…

Of course, if my own work were to be named – something I rank equally probable as the moon suddenly exploding and drowning the earth in a rain of green cheese – I’d deliver it right away!

“the voting is still going on until the end of Saturday” hmmm confusing because according to Jay voting is open until 2pm Eastern time today (Sunday 5th).

Good points Shirley, and I think a lot of the art would be impossible to pack into a box, particularly installation work, because of all the individual elements that would need placing by the artists themselves.

That’s a good question, Walter- how will we handle things that are installations?

Invite the artists to come install them, I should think, though if we got a lot of the large works we might run out of space and prims! And if Tuna’s performance piece is one of the finalists we’ll have to invite him over to do a special show – which won’t be exactly like the nominated one because Tuna’s shows are live improv, and therefore each one is different.

“…a lot of the art would be impossible to pack into a box, particularly installation work, because of all the individual elements that would need placing by the artists themselves.”

This is true, a lot of my work uses scripts, sounds, or found objects that are non-transfer. Can you expand on your meaning of what you think a rez-box is?

Wow, I guess an internship these days means more than running around and getting people their lattes. Bear with me folks, I’m learning here.

Thanks Dekka for pointing out the problem with scripts, sounds, or found objects that are non-transfer. I guess I was thinking too narrowly about simply dragging and dropping an “object” from my inventory.

I think the best solution here is to ask the artists to send the work to me if possible, and for cases where they need to install it themsevles they are welcome to come to the KU sim all throughout monday and work with us.

What do you guys think?

I know I said lateness is unattractive, but I may have just been thinking of this.

I think i saw that chick in line the line for lattes in front of me on Bedford Ave.

That plan sounds good to me Walter! it is going to be a little crazy but damn is this going to be a good show–i’m busy tallying the votes – i’ll post the winners list as soon as I can and you can start sending out IM’s to them. I notified all 70 something nominees yesterday via IM- it actually went pretty fast.

And this is the internship trial by fire – and i really appreciate the work you’re putting in! Keep up the good work!

Walter, be fair – Lady Gaga is a professional at being outrageous, it’s what keeps her in the news. Kind of like me in Second Life ;)
