Arahan, Nebulosus and Amy are back with more interesting content but this has to top the list:
There will also be a short lecture given on German artist Gerhard Richter’s Baader-Meinhof series of paintings, delivered by a robot.
The event went great- Misprint Thursday, Penumbra Carter, Alizarin Goldflake, Filthy Fluno, L1Aura Lorie, Adonis Bussy, Tuna Odfellow and Shava Nerad all spoke and the event was attended by a good turn out of people.
Katy and I got in later than we meant to on friday so we didn’t get to see any Cyberart before the event and then after we were all tired and thirsty so we all went out for drinks which then became dinner and before we knew it, all the cyberarts venues had closed already (most of them closed at 5 or 6 sadly) and it was too late. So we just went out drinking some more…
The result was that the only part of the cyberarts festival that I got to see was the part I was in – a little disappointing — and I”m sorry that i didn’t get a chance to write about anything for your enjoyment — clearly next time i’ll come and stay longer- right now i’m heading home because I have a ton of work i need to get done for my clients.
But the Boston is Watching event itself was great and DOCUMENTED… boy was it documented- Misprint’s husband videotaped everything, and Katy took a ton of photos which we’ll get posted pronto. I was great to meet in the flesh all these people and great to see some of Alizarin’s work in RL and a painting by Filthy/ Jeffrey of Tuna in good light (it was painted in the dark at Jack the Pelican during the in-person oddball.
I threw out the idea that someone in boston should start up a permanent “Is Watching” franchise- we’ll see if that happens.
I have to give a big shout out to Misprint Thursday and the boston-area-based folks for organizing the whole shindig- it was a real pleasure!
