Yes Beth the video is pretty cool. It certainly shows why so much is misunderstood with some of the work. Juria’s piece in the sky does have sound, you have to react with the work to hear it, the Tattingstone Box is interactive too, those white glow rectangles recede away from you as you approach, opening up the space as you enter and closing you into the box as you go further in. Most artists who visit the sim know this, because we mainly all walk around the site. This is why I’m really banging away at my suggestion that a avatar, not a eyeball. should visit the sim pre-podcast, so the work can be understood more fully.

The note card you got was produced by a sensor scan, not so cool to use, some residents regard them to be similar to spam and as you experienced it doesn’t necessarily indicate which work it is.

‘Go back to real life’ is a project you set for your own real life students Jay! maybe they should get a extra credit for this now or not?

I know it was hard to visualise everything on such a busy sim, but my WHAAM! graphic came with it’s own jet fighter which fired a missile, and I had placed a note card giver explaining the reasoning for it being there, but I’ll just say it was a collaboration with Penumbra, she did all the work building the jet.

You look flushed Jay, I wonder why?

Video podcasts are awesome, but you should set the camera on a tripod Beth, because not only would it give your arms a rest but it’s the camera in SL that needs the attention. It’s cool to see the introductions of the panel but after that it could be set in one position, facing the screen.

Bunnyken is an ambiguous character, apparently buoyant and joyous, yet there is something menacing behind the shiny, plastic veneer. Nebulosus might come here and give you some more background on the piece at BiW, but she wrote an explanation on her blog last week.

The porno Bunnyken video Beth mentioned , is part of the installation XXX PRIVATE SHOW by myself and Neb, and it’s on display right now on level 2 of the Arthole gallery. Full instructions given in a notecard upon arrival.

It would be difficult to set up a tripod in the JTPP space for the little flip cam. It’s a tiny space and there were lots of us in there. Anyway, I kind of like the hand-held thing…

Enjoyed the video and the conversation of the work this week. The handheld camera didn’t really bother me. The timer rule was kind of annoying though since Jay’s comment on my work got cut short. I’d like to suggest an amendment to that rule that if a person is in the middle of making a point, he or she completes it within a brief time. Jay, would love to hear your ideas on what makes the tunnels more interesting than this week’s piece.

Thanks for featuring Bunnyken this week! I thought it might be fun to leave another Bunnyken project at BIW in honor of the first art I ever rezzed here, ‘Bunnykenball,’ which was about a year ago exactly. I appreciated all the comments, some of them were quite funny, hehe. Thank you also, Jay, for mentioning ‘XXX Private Show’ and ‘Orientation.’ Both were very rewarding collaborations. I would personally love to recreate ‘Orientation’ again at some point to give more people a chance to experience it firsthand! It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun, too.

Arahan is absolutely right; Bunnyken is, and is meant to be, an ambiguous figure — both campy and creepy, harmless yet somehow threatening. His saccharine qualities are intentional in every way.

Someone in the podcast described Bunnyken as being “buoyant in its joyousness,” and that’s exactly what I had in mind as I built this piece, so I’m glad those concepts and emotions were conveyed. The sim has turned upsidedown since last podcast (a good sign that everyone has been taking their art vitamins). I wanted to share with you some photos and a video of my recent work I made on the sim titled “Metagumbo Filmscape”. It had a very film feel to the experience.

Roy Lichtenstein did make the illusionistic aluminum House sculptures, one of which was on the roof of the Met and now resides on a grassy knoll in Atlanta, as well as the painting Whaam! in the Tate Collection that Dekka and Penumbra reference so nicely with their jet fighter.

i think that the spam filter kicks in under certain circumstances (might have to do with length and or number of links) and makes comments wait for moderation – Neb your comments were both in moderation limbo so i just approved them both- figured you could delete one if you wanted to – sorry for the delay! and this is an interesting conversation- i want to dive into it but first i must finish some web design mockups for a client before the time I promised they’d be done… (why didn’t i say they’d be done tomorrow?)
