The current crop of work at BiW annoyed me so that I parked my avatar under the sea for a while and had her take a nap. It was the closest thing I could do to killing her.
I’ve thought before that the terrible thing about SL is that it’s a space where you can do anything. We are all so used to working around whatever limitations we have that to have them suddenly removed instills in us a kind of conservatism. I guess we get scared and cling to the familiar. Is this what the future holds? Oh god, I hope not.
Remember that cheesy 90s dance song that went, Don’t be afraid of your freedom? Please take it to heart. Artists are supposed to be on the bleeding edge – the bleeding edge, people!!! – if we don’t push the boundaries of the culture we’re in, who will? We are misfits for a reason. We came here to SL to do something we couldn’t do in our day to day lives. So fucking do it already!!!!!!!
C’mon, people. I am taking a one-week vacation from the podcast and when I return, I will be angrier and drunker and more critical than I ever have been before. Art is my religion, it’s my god, my everything – I’m obsessed, I admit it - and I am about to embark on a holy war against you people who are leaving us such lazy stuff.
Notes:
Yes, I do really have OCD. I could give you a doctor’s note and everything.
The exceptions to my rant are Ichibot’s wheezing bio-thing; Juria’s tower intervention; Selavy Oh’s Three Cubes in a Sphere (but c’mon – even that – from Selavy? Selavy’s such an ass kicker! If it was anyone else then ok, but Selavy?!? Three Cubes is like, okay, but I’m so used to something from her that crawls under my skin, that I dismiss as nothing at first and then totally warps my brain as I spend time thinking about it. C’mon Selavy!!!! Blow my mind!!!!!); and the robot animal thing that Shirley said she’d write about. But yeah – everything else still stands.

p.s. also I liked neb’s signs. although I would have personally been a lot more aggressive with them…
