I think I’ve been the hold out. I’ve been really, really hesitant to download anything else to my already overloaded, ready-to-die computer. I guess it’s worth a try though.

The sound wasn’t too bad really, everything was clear enough. Skype would likely be much much better though. It’s a teensy program Amy, shouldn’t be too demanding on your PC.

It was great to hear your thoughts about Neb’s work and the reactions and discussion it provoked. It is my personal favourite piece of hers.

Thanks a lot for looking at my ‘Sick Cat’. Like Neb, I made that version for BIW and I was keen to hear your comments. Amy said some very enthusiastic things that I didn’t grasp when I was listening at the time, but I’m really happy that the work inspired such a strong and positive response.

Sorry about all the penises, but it was sort of the point, to have them together. Ichibot created a really clever homage to Butterflysmasher and Francis Bacon, called ‘Butterfly Smashed’ that you sadly missed. Oh and that fantastic blood spattered canvas that DC added to ‘The Beauty of Man’ was so brilliant and funny.

But admittedly, there were a lot of penises to take in, if you’ll pardon the expression…

There has already been some wonderful spontaneous collaborations happen with this project. What Ichibot and Juria made under the water was a highlight for me, it just worked so beautifully in that space.

You’re right – it is a tiny program, it’s just that my computer is held together by spit at this point so I’ve been trying not to push it. But I think I’ve now accepted that this is the way to go.

I can’t remember what enthusiastic things I said, but if you want me to clarify anything, I would be happy to. I think it probably had something to do with my weird flu/schitzophrenia analogy which was clumsy at best, but I swear there was a point I was making in there somewhere.

Yes, Skype is worth trying once at least, you never know your computer might just get along with it fine.

Regarding Neb’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do”. I understood what you were saying with the “flu/schizophrenia analogy”, I think you were just recognizing the honesty of the piece and that it deals with very, tangible issues. I’d have liked to have heard more of your thoughts on body representation that you touched on, it is an enticing topic.

About my ‘Sick Cat’, you said that it was sort of like the future you wanted to see when you joined Second Life, not glowing sculptures that look like they belong in insurance companies. You and Jay also said you liked the humanness of the work. The version I made for you was in a very diluted form to the original but the overall concept was the same though. So, I was really happy that it still managed to have an impact on you all.

After that you started to tell what sounded like a very interesting story about nail clippings, but I couldn’t work out if it was a cat you were referring to or a person and then the damned duck started quacking and the moment was lost. So, I’d like to know more about all that please!
